The most important thing we do at Southland is to help you develop your relationship with Jesus Christ...to know Him as your personal Savior and Lord. Here is a brief summary of what we believe:
GOD: He is not only the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, but He is the heavenly Father who loves each of us. (John 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Revelation 4:11)
JESUS CHRIST: He is the one and only Lord and Savior. He died for us on the cross, in our place, to reconcile us to God. He arose from the tomb and gave us the hope of eternal life. (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; 5:1-11)
HOLY SPIRIT: He is God and He works in Christians to produce the fruit of godly character. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-15; Ephesians 1:13; Romans 8:9)
SALVATION: Christians are all sinners, saved by the grace of a loving God. There is no way we can EARN salvation...it is free. Like any gift, it has to be received. We receive forgiveness and new life through: Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance (turning from sin), confession of faith in Christ, and Baptism into Christ.
THE BIBLE: We adhere to and recognize the authority of the Bible in both the Old Testament and New Testament writings. The Bible is the only supernaturally inspired revelation and inerrant Word of God in its original manuscripts. We believe that the Bible has been preserved by God, so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. (1 Corinthians 2:7-14; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16)
COMMUNION: Communion is celebrated weekly at Southland, and it is open to all Christians, regardless of church affiliation.
